Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour

Last Friday night Taylor Swift’s The Era’s Tour opened up its first night in Glendale, Arizona. This tour has been more publicized than any other artist’s tour in the past. Taylor Swift is currently the number one female artist around the world and her upcoming tour is a current event to be aware of.

As many would know, the demand for these Taylor Swift tickets exceeded everyone’s expectations. Ticketmaster, a large corporation dedicated to providing tickets to concerts and sports games, was unable to meet the demand for Taylor Swift tickets. 3.5 million people registered for presale for the Era’s Tour tickets and on that day 2.4 million tickets were sold. This broke the record for most tickets sold in a single day by any artist and still many fans were unable to obtain tickets. Several problems occurred within the presale. Due to the site crashing, the site malfunctioning, distributing too many presale codes, and under-regulating the amount of fans on the site, many fans had problems obtaining tickets and a large variety of the tickets were resold on other sites for incredibly high prices. Ticketmaster was met with a massive amount of criticism and scrutiny for this oversight, especially being targeted for their role as a large monopoly within the concert business.

The Era’s Tour marks Taylor Swift’s sixth headlining tour following her Reputation, 1989, Red, Fearless, Speak Now, and Debut album tours. After having to cancel her 2020 tour for her album Lover, which was to be titled Lover Fest, Taylor continued to work on producing during COVID. Within this time she re-recorded her albums Fearless and Red, including some new music withheld from these albums originally.

Out of her 10 total albums she has not been on tour for Lover, Folklore, or Evermore. Taylor Swift’s Era’s Tour is designed to celebrate all 10 of her albums including her newest album Midnights. Each show is to be divided into 10 acts, correlating with the era she went through surrounding every album. This is supported by costume changes, set design changes, and color scheme manipulation for each of the 10 acts. Fans are over the moon in getting to celebrate all of her albums at once. The tour has been met with such a positive response. If you have ever been a Taylor Swift fan you want tickets now more than ever. There is a guarantee that something from everyone of her albums will be included in the set list. The Era’s Tour will be Taylor Swift’s second stadium tour after her first stadium tour Reputation. Starting Friday, March 17, 2023, the Era’s Tour is scheduled to end on August 9, 2023, but this is subject to change as she has already added 25 extra dates to this tour due to the demands. This makes it the largest stadium tour ever with 52 total concerts. Due to the anticipation for the tour the city it started in, Glendale, Arizona has been temporarily renamed Swift City for the tour. Fans can be seen taking photos and posing in front of the Swift City signs all over town. Taylor has recruited a wide variety of artists to open for her throughout the tour including Paramore, Haim, Phoebe Bridgers, Beabadoobee, Girl in Red, Muña, Gayle, Gracie Abrams, and Owenn. Promoting her tour is a company called Messina Touring Group (AEG), who is very excited to be working with her on these events.

Taylor is one of the biggest artists of our generation and she is doing amazing things with her platform. Her tour is surely to be one for the books.
