Dear Royals,
Happy May! We’re already a month into Term 4, and we’re officially a few weeks out from the end of the 2024-25 school year. I want to congratulate you all on such an incredible school year. I am so proud of your resilience and your persistence, and I encourage you all to keep staying engaged on and off campus as. We are all here to support one another, and I invite you to lean on your peers, trusted adults, and school community as you finish.
Updates from your ASB: we selected our ASB for the 2024-25 school year. Executive cabinet (ASB President, ASB Vice President, ASB Secretary, ASB Treasurer, and ASB Student Board Representative) were elected into office in mid-March, and class officers (Class President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Class Rep for Seniors) were elected at the end of March. Commissioner interviews took place on April 19th and 23rd, and we had our introductory orientation meeting on April 30th, where we welcomed our incoming ASB and celebrated their achievement. We’re really excited to expand our capacity as ASB to better represent and serve our student body next year, and we hope that these changes will promote consistency and efficacy in our ASB initiatives. We’ve also started planning our end of the year activities, including the final rally, ASB Awards, Prom, and senior week to make sure that we all get to celebrate our hard work at the conclusion of the school year. And, as we start to prepare for the start of the next school year, we are committed to listening to your voices and amplifying your concerns to ensure we are delivering fun, inclusive, and well-communicated activities that meet the diverse interests of our campus.
On a slightly different note, we have been collaborating with administration to improve support for our student clubs on campus, particularly our affinity groups like BSU, GSA, MEChA, and Ethnic Studies Club. It is of utmost importance to me and to many of us involved in ASB that we work to promote safe spaces for all students on campus to promote connection, unity, and community. Our goal is to protect each student’s sense of belonging, and we are dedicated to giving every student the opportunity to get involved in the way most meaningful to them. We are here to work with and alongside you.
Finally, I also want to acknowledge that May is Mental Health Awareness Month. No matter what you’re going through, I am proud of you for being here. You are valued, and your presence makes a difference in all of our lives. We are all connected, and we are so grateful to have you, however you are. If you are looking for resources, please reach out to your counselor, a trusted adult on or off campus, or visit the Student Mental Health and Wellness page on Canvas for a list of contacts/resources. Thank you for being here.
Sincerely,
Kavya Suresh
