Mark your calendars and prepare for an unforgettable evening! Among the first of many events of the 2024-2025 school year is the Homecoming dance. This year, the Junior Class of 2026 presents, “A Night in Paris”. Taking place on Saturday, October 5th from 7 pm to 10 pm at the blacktop outside the gym at San Marcos High School, this year’s dance promises to transport you to the romantic streets of Paris for a night of glamorous fun.
Tickets for this dazzling night will be available for purchase starting Monday, September 23rd, on both the San Marcos website and the business office and will remain on sale through Wednesday, October 2nd. Prices are set at $25 with a Royal Card, $35 for general admission, and $40 for an off-campus guest. Off-campus guest tickets must be purchased with the completion of the off-campus guest form, and purchased together at the business window, presented with your student ID. There will be no exceptions to this rule, so make sure to have your ID ready when buying tickets.
In addition, there is an ongoing Homecoming proposal competition where you have the chance to win two free tickets by simply planning, recording, and submitting a video of your proposal. Video submissions are due by Friday, September 27th through the Google form sent out by ASB, found in your school email. So if you plan on asking someone, don’t miss out on the opportunity for free tickets!
With homecoming court already revealed, it is important Senior Royals get involved and cast their final vote for Homecoming Royalty. Voting for the 2024-2025 Homecoming Royalty will continue on till Thursday, October 3rd, so make sure to cast your vote!
Prior to the dance, there are a variety of other things to look forward to. Leading up to the Saturday of the dance, ASB has planned a spirit week according to the votes of the student body. In no particular order, Homecoming spirit days include Jersey Day, Country versus Country Club, Twin Day, a Day in Paris, and a Class Color Day to end off the week. Then, on Friday night, the Homecoming game will commence in the Warkentin Stadium with a game against Fillmore. The theme of the game is Pink Out for Breast Cancer Awareness, so make sure you show your school spirit and wear your best pink attire. It is also at this game during halftime where this year’s Homecoming Royalty will be announced, serving as just another reason not to miss it.
With all of this buildup, the Homecoming Dance itself will surely not disappoint. Following the theme, the gym and the blacktop will be decorated with Parisian-inspired decorations, setting the scene for a beautiful starry Parisian night. Additionally, the food provided is aimed to follow the French theme with the menu featuring macarons from Anna’s Bakery and refreshing Kona Ice. Each person will be allowed two macarons and one serving of Kona Ice. There will also be a water station, ensuring everyone stays hydrated for the variety of activities available to them. Outside of the lit-up dance floor and DJ, there will also be arcade games like air hockey and table tennis, as well as two photo booths.
So much work has gone into this event and everything leading up to it, and we have our ASB to thank for what is shaping up to be an amazing experience.
“The junior class officers have been hard at work trying to make it an immersive experience with the French theme as more than just a concept,” said Paul Hiracheta, the Activities Director at San Marcos. “There’s a lot of good energy this year around school spirit which is influencing the dance and the event itself, so we’re hoping to make it the biggest homecoming yet!” continues Hiracheta.
So if you were not planning on attending Homecoming this year, we encourage you to do so as it will be an unforgettable experience that you do not want to miss. Show your school spirit and support for San Marcos and make sure you have your spirit day outfits ready, come to the Homecoming football game, and purchase your tickets for what is going to be the best Homecoming yet. Go Royals!
