Bright colors – Just because summer is over does not mean that it’s time to break out all the neutral clothes from the back of your closet. Spice up your ensemble with a bright belt, scarf or shoes. Brightly-colored denim is a big fashion trend for this year, so pair a neutral top with some eye-popping pants. Fall may be an unpleasant transition from summer to school, but these splashes of color should keep your mood cheery.
Lace – We are seeing a lot of lace right now. Lace shirts, lace shorts, you name it. This look can be dressed up for special occasions or dressed down for school and relaxing. Whether it is the classic white or edgy colored lace, you are sure to look great. Just be careful when pairing lace items with patterns and you will be good to go.
High/low skirts and dresses – The high/low skirt made its first appearances last year, but has really taken off recently. It’s hard to go into a clothing store without being nearly assaulted by all of the high/low skirts and dresses. As long as the difference between the length of the front and back is not too drastic, this is a great look and can be paired with casual or fancy accessories.
Oversized & cable knit sweaters – These big, chunky sweaters are great for those foggy and cold days in Santa Barbara. They are both cute and functional. You are sure to stay both fashionable, warm, and comfortable at school or out on the town.
Studs and skulls- Studs and skulls are going to be popping up a lot this season. This trend can be kind of daunting, so start small with accessories like a studded bracelet or a skull printed scarf and then work with the trend at your own comfort level.
Chiffon button down shirt- This shirt is an easy way to make an outfit look pulled together without trying too hard. Printed or plain, this shirt is the new go to fall item. Button the shirt all the way and tuck it into jeans for an extra polished look. Pair the sheer shirt with a plain colored tank underneath or with a cute bandeau.
High waisted bottoms – High waisted shorts were huge this summer, now fall is all about that trend carried over into pants. Dark wash blue jeans, corduroys, or this season’s fall colors such as peach, royal blue, or eggplant are really hot this fall.
Denim shirt – Denim shirts were popular this summer and they are here to stay! This shirt should be a staple item in anyone’s closet. It is easy trend to incorporate. It can be worn all the way buttoned up, half buttoned, sleeves rolled or sleeves down, there is no wrong way to wear this shirt. To really do this trend correctly, do not wear it with denim on the bottom. Sticking to one denim item at a time is a safe rule to follow.
