The girl’s junior varsity and varsity Volleyball teams have been easily outscoring their opponents in their opening games. Both groups of girls are very enthusiastic and supportive of one another on and off the court. They strive to bring victory to San Marcos. The junior varsity volleyball team have won 4 of their 7 games so far, each one turning into a competitive battle. Recently, in the game against San Luis Obispo, the JV team smashed their opponent with scores of 25-10, and 25-15.

We just put the volleyball onto their side of the court, until they messed up,” said volleyball player Madeleine Frohling. “The game against Dos Pueblos helped us prepare for the game against San Luis Obispo.”

The varsity team played an outstanding game against Dos Pueblos High School on September 25th. Varsity won all three of their games against Dos Pueblos with scores 25-23,-25-20, and 25-15. Their current record is 5-2. The varsity team is an exciting group to watch. They are consistent, focused, and always come well-prepared for games.

Our goal is to win Channel League this year,” said co-junior volleyball captain Andie O’Donell. “We are young, experienced, and one unique thing that stands out about us is that we are very close with each other off the court.”

Thursday, October 11, the San Marcos girls volleyball team visited the Dos Pueblos Chargers and played in front of a packed crowd. San Marcos won the first two games, but the Chargers came back by winning the next two games. In the fifth game, San Marcos gained the victory and won the match. The victory gives San Marcos the opportunity to play for first place in Channel League.

Be sure to come out to the Thunder Hut on Thursday, October 18 to watch all three volleyball teams compete against Santa Barbara. Help us support the girl’s volleyball teams as they pursue first place in Channel League!
