Mother’s Day is quickly approaching. Sunday, May 11th marks the day we celebrate the women that gave us life. On this day, our mothers are expected to be showered with gifts and affection, but the high prices of many mother’s day gifts can make it difficult to buy presents. However, there are many ways to spend little or no money and still be able to give our mothers the gifts and day they deserve.
To begin your mom’s special day, bring her breakfast in bed. It can be something simple like a piece of toast with eggs and bacon, or homemade baked goods such as scones or muffins. To complete your lovely gesture, add a jar of flowers and a nice card to the platter.
Later in the day, present your mother with a gift. It doesn’t have to be something expensive or special. A coupon book is always a favorite. Piece together some paper and write out helpful things you can do for your mom. For example, you can create a coupon for one car wash or one week of washing the dishes. Present the coupon book to your mom wrapped with a ribbon of some sort. Your mother will love the thought that went into making it, and will definitely appreciate the help the coupons will offer.
Another gift you can easily make is a photo collage. Collect photos of your mom from her childhood to your family pictures. Print out a variety of photos and glue them onto a large piece of paper. You can write messages or place stickers around the photos. Decorate the paper with glitter or drawings and give it to your mom with a flower or a ribbon.
To make your mom’s special day even better, spend time with her by going to a fun place in Santa Barbara. You could go out to dinner or lunch at your favorite restaurant, or go to the movies. There are many great action movies out right now such as Brick Mansions, Captain America, and The Amazing Spiderman 2. There are also excellent comedy and documentary movies playing. You could also take a fun trip to the beach or downtown. Remember that spending quality time with your mom is one of the best gifts you can give her. Make your mom’s day amazing, she deserves it.
