Apple’s latest addition to the iPhone is set to be the most impressive version yet. The iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s plus went on sale for preorder on September 12 and will be available in stores on September 25. A 3D touch option is the latest and greatest advancement to the iPhone and will be included in the new phones. Apple’s slogan for the new phones, “The only thing that’s changed is everything,” leads buyers to think that although many of the previous models have been similar, Apple is not running out of ideas to advance their overwhelmingly successful product.
3D touch may be the most impressive feature of the iPhone 6s and 6s plus. Sensors measure the pressure a finger applies to the screen, and various options pop up depending on the pressure of the touch. 3D touch works on the home screen as well as inside the applications, allowing for many more options to be performed compared to previous iPhones. 3D touch is a component of IOS 9, the new software system employed in the iPhones.
“For iPhone 6s and 6s plus, we’re introducing an entirely new interaction and a whole new dimension to the way you experience your iPhone,” said Apple Chief Design Officer Jonathan Ive on the Apple website.
The iPhone 6s and 6s plus are available in four finishes, gold, silver, space grey, and Apple’s latest design, rose gold. The iPhone 6s and 6s plus have 4.7 inch and 5.5 displays respectively, and they both have retina HD display. Apple claims that the materials in the iPhone are the most durable of any iPhone or android device, complete with “the world’s strongest smartphone glass,” as it says on their website.
Major improvements have also been made to the iPhone camera. It now has 12 megapixels and the Facetime camera is a five megapixel HD camera. The videos on the new iPhones will have 4K resolution, providing a much clearer picture than ever before.
Since its introduction in 2007, the iPhone has continued to advance and it has reached the height of the technological world. The new phones are proving to be immensely popular as pre order sales are soaring and Apple expects over 10 million sales in the first weekend for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s plus.
