Occasionally our sweet tooth gets a craving for something decadent and sugary but doesn’t want the guilt that comes with that slice of triple chocolate cake. This paleo chocolate mug cake is the perfect treat. It’s guilt free and so easy to make that you will want to indulge everyday.
What does paleo mean? The Paleo Diet is described as “modern foods that mimic the food groups of our pre-agricultural, hunter-gatherer ancestors.” It’s a diet that’s recently gotten a lot of publicity and praise for its clean, healthy basis and proven results. This recipe falls under the paleo category because the base is almond rather than flour. Here is what you will need. (yields one serving)
- 1 Tbsp almond flour
- 1 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 Tbsp almond milk (unsweetened optional)
- 1/2 Tsp honey (agave optional)
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla
Simply combine all ingredients together in a mug and microwave for 5-10 minutes. When the cake is finished baking, pull it out of the microwave and enjoy or garnish with some delicious toppings. A few favorites are a generous scoop of coconut ice cream or a heaping spoonful of creamy almond butter.
