San Marcos boys water polo beat Dos Pueblos in their game at DP on October 13. The end score was 11-6, with the DP leading in the first quarter and SM dominating the final three.
Dos Pueblos was scoreless in the third quarter and royals jumped into the fourth quarter with a 10-4 lead. The leading scorers for the Royals were Spencer Wood and Adam Fuller with three goals each.
Despite clock malfunctions in the second quarter, coach Jeff Ashton thought his team stayed focused and overcame major distractions.
“They have some good players so you never know. A couple things don’t go your way, or a couple bar-ins, it could go a completely different way so I thought the guys did a good job of staying focused,” said coach Ashton in an interview with Presidio Sports.
Team captains Brenden Ring and George Kuesis were excited to beat DP in their home pool.
“We played well as a team, this being our third game in league and being undefeated, our team chemistry shows,” said captain Brenden Ring. “It felt really good to beat DP.”
The next SM vs. DP game will be on October 29 at SM.
