This has been one of the best seasons in San Marcos history for the girls golf team. They overcame many obstacles that had stopped them in the past, such as beating DP and all of the other teams they played against this season. They played so well that the team continued on into CIF for the first time in over seven years.
“This past year of golf has been some of the best that San Marcos has ever played,” said senior Alex Pitchford
The Royals performed extremely well this year. The varsity team was the strongest it has been in years and it showed when they obliterated their opponents. Many of the girls on the team shot their lowest scores ever this year. The Royals were able to make it to the Northern Divisional Team Championships at Los Robles Greens in Thousand Oaks, where they shot a team score of 458. The lowest scores were shot by Mackenzie McBride and Alex Pitchford. Mackenzie shot an 81 and Alex shot an 86 for the 18 hole round. Sadly, despite the girl’s greatest efforts, they will not be advancing to the next CIF round.
“I was really proud of all the girls and how well they played this season, said Coach Ashton. “Overall I think this season went really well.
Girls golf had a solid season this year, but they are always looking to improve their game and they hope to come back even stronger next year. They finished off their season by winning all of their league games except for one. Now they are going to practice hard for next season so next year can be even better.
