Download movies on Netflix

Staff Writer

On November 30, Netflix announced that they would be allowing members to download certain movies and TV shows for offline viewing. People were ecstatic about this because they could finally watch their favorite shows on the airplane or on a long car ride. Most of the selection available for download are Netflix original series, but there are a few other options.

Some shows you can find for offline viewing are: Stranger Things, Orange is the New Black, Narcos, and The Crown. However, other popular shows like Gilmore Girls, How I Met Your Mother, Friends, and New Girl are currently restricted for downloading. Some of the movies available for download are Begin Again, Jaws, and 13 Going on 30.

It is so cool that I can download things and watch them without using data,” said junior Brad Besserman. “I am excited to watch The Office.

To be able to download things on Netflix, you must update the app. Whenever you want to download another movie or TV show, Netflix recommends that you delete any other downloaded titles beforehand. Also, there is a limit to how many titles you can download at a certain time. It also limits the amount of time you have to keep something downloaded for offline viewing before needing to re-download it. Also, it is best to download in Wi-Fi because downloading uses just as much data as streaming.

I travel a lot so it is going to be easier to watch my favorite movies and TV shows without an internet connection,” said sophomore Gabe Farhadian. “This is a good addition to Netflix.”

There is an “Available for Download” menu on the app, showing the movies and shows that you can watch when you don’t have connection to the internet. There is also a “My Downloads” menu that shows which things you have downloaded and are ready to watch offline.

Most members of Netflix are universally agreed that the option to download shows is a wonderful addition. People are very happy about the change and will be able to watch select shows and movies wherever they want now! Hopefully in the future Netflix will add more titles to the selection.
