After years of the our school pouring money into revamping our school campus they finally decided to add an artistic element. Our school was lucky enough to be granted the money by the Marquis family to have a professional paint a mural on the front of the auditorium.

Much to the excitement of our administration, they jumped on this chance. Matt Marquis, the orchestrator of this event, was able to contact Robert Vargus, a famous mural painter from Los Angeles. The project was rapidly thrown into motion. Before the San Marcos students even had a chance to notice that a mural had started at the entrance of the school, it was finished.

The mural itself is of six famous San Marcos Alumni. From left to right it is Cady Huffman, a movie star from the 80s; Glenn Phillips, a member of the band Toad the Wet Sprocket; Drake Turner, a musician; Colleen Ballinger, aka Miranda Sings; Anthony Edwards, another famous actor; and Eric Stoltz, award winning actor, director, and producer.

As you may have noticed, all of these people are involved in the arts. Robert Vargus said that he wanted to create a mural that honored the incredible performing arts programs offered here at San Marcos, that is why the mural was painted on the auditorium.
