A good season for softball with a 4-1 record. One student who has stood out is senior Allie Fryklund. On May 10th she finished the game with a total of 18 strikeouts in a 9-1 win over Santa Ynez.
Girls basketball had a good season with a record of 5-2.Winning games against Lompoc Braves, Cabrillo Conquistadores, and Dos Pueblos Chargers and are currently 3rd in Channel League.
The girls soccer team placed first in channel league with a 10-0 record, winning 6 home games and 4 away games. Two stand outs are senior Lily Bienstock, and senior Sofia Orozco. The team has made a deep run in the CIF playoffs.
Tennis had a good season with a record of 4-1. One student that stood out was sophomore Natasha Gill. She won the Channel League individual tournament.
Girls lacrosse this year has a record of 3-3 and is 3rd in the Channel League.
Girls golf currently has a 5-5 record this season with wins over schools such as Santa Barbara.
Girls Water Polo:
Girls water polo did good this season with a 2-0 record.
“Our season went really well. We won Channel League and had some great performances,” said coach Hantgin. “We only have a handful of seniors so we had to rely on our younger runners to really help out with scoring points. We also won County Championships which is always a goal for our program,” she added.
Girls Beach Volleyball:
“Beach season has been an awesome opportunity to reconnect with the girls and get back a bit of normalcy after the pandemic,” said coach Hauschild. “It was fun to have a chance to meet and get to know freshmen players that didn’t get to have an indoor season. Having them play around some of our Seniors and Juniors who are great examples of what a San Marcos athlete should be has a real gift,” he added. The beach volleyball season was a great way for the girls to show off their skills since they were unable to play indoor volleyball this year.
This season was great, finishing off with a win at Channel League finals! They finished the year as Channel League Champions with an undefeated 6-0 record and are heading off to CIF to continue competition.
