Hello hello, and happy holidays! In honor of winter, I’ll be reading a seasonally appropriate book. This article is my present to you, so enjoy!
A Holiday Book:
“Let it Snow” by: John Green, Lauren Myracle, Maureen Johnson
Genre: Holiday Romance
Although this book is composed of three different short stories, they are all set in the same town, and tie into each other. Normally, I’m not a fan of short stories because they tend to lack depth, but these were so intricately tied together, and were really cute fluffy romances. It is a great book to read if you want some holiday cheer, but otherwise, it is kinda cliche. I wouldn’t say the stories are Hallmark-level cheesiness, but they are basic yet weird. Out of the three, I think my favorite story is the first one, “The Jubilee Express.” The titular character, Jubilee, has a complicated relationship with her parents (as they are currently in jail), and her boyfriend is just too perfect. It makes the story all the more fun when she gets stuck in Gracetown during the big snowstorm. My favorite part of her story (and Allie’s) is the gaggle of giggly 8-year old girls. We don’t get much snow in California, and I always wished I grew up in a place that had huge snowstorms. The little girls remind me of all the joys of childhood, and the endless possibilities of a snow day. I just want to forewarn you guys: the rating for this book is gonna be pretty low. It is a good book and very festive, however as I mentioned earlier the romances are basic. There is no epic love story, that’s for sure, but because the book is most likely meant for younger readers, that is to be expected. Other than that, I think you should cuddle up with some hot cocoa and get to reading!

All the credit for this next idea goes to my computer science teacher Ms. Ary. We were talking about books and she suggested putting recommendations based on other books. I shouldn’t have to explain why this is an awesome idea, but I guess I will. Basically, if you like something, you’ll want to find more things that are like that thing you like. So, if you like cooking, maybe you’ll want to watch cooking shows, or find cool cookbooks. Like usual I read some books, and the subject matter of those books reminded me of other things, so if you like any of those other categories I thought of, you might enjoy these books! Sorry for the super confusing explanation, but hopefully it makes sense. Kinda?
