P-EBT Cards

P-EBT+Cards

EBT and P-EBT cards, what are they? First, the acronym P-EBT card stands for pandemic electronic benefit transfer and the acronym for EBT is electronic benefit transfer. P-EBT cards were formally made as a temporary benefit for children who are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch but did not receive meals at school or day care due to closure in school systems. The people that are ellegibale for P-EBT are students from the ages 0-6. On the other hand, an EBT is an electronic system that allows a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participant to pay for food using SNAP benefits. When a participant shops at a SNAP authorized retail store, their SNAP EBT account is debited to reimburse the store for food that was purchased. EBT has been the sole method of SNAP issuance in all states since June of 2004. People who are eligible for EBT cards are people that are 60 years or older. The best way to apply for an EBT card is to go to their customer service line at 1-877-328-9677.

Many people wonder what they should do if they ever lose their EBT card. The best thing to do is again call their customer service line and report the card as lost or stolen. If you ever find your card again it cannot be reactivated.

What can you buy with an EBT card? Items that can be purchased with an EBT card are fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy products, wheat products, and snack foods. There are also items that you may not be able to purchase such as alcoholic beverages, vitamins/supplements, animals, and non food items.

Multiple people I know have enjoyed these EBT cards, by using them to buy snacks, lunch, and groceries. An avid EBT card user wanted to share this information about his time using his card,

“Personally my experience with using my EBT card has been easy, it wasn’t very hard to apply and receive my card. I have been using it a lot to get my lunch and a snack after school. I recommend that everyone should apply to get an EBT card,” said sophomore Joe Pasternack.

Overall I think that everyone should apply for an EBT card because they can be very useful to everyone by allowing them to buy snacks or even groceries.
