A truly great Christmas movie should channel the mood of the holiday season. The movies you are about to read about are actually about Christma with all the joys, anxieties, and surprises they bring. Like Santa Claus himself, we are making a list, but we are checking it more than twice because seriously this is important. Who only checks a list twice? I’m also telling you where to watch them right now, with an emphasis on streaming services that include them with a subscription, though you can usually rent most of these movies from the likes of Amazon, iTunes, VUDU, and YouTube. (Or, if you’re feeling ambitious, dig up the old VHS copies stashed away somewhere).

What would Christmas be without instant gratification? Starting with “Gremlins”  Not a Christmas Movie, per se, but Joe Dante’s mischievous monster-mash comedy is set during the holidays in a snowy Norman Rockwell-esque town. Plus, who didn’t want a cuddly little pet like Gizmo waiting under their tree on Christmas morning? That is, assuming you didn’t feed it after midnight. Another called “The Nightmare Before Christmas” It tells the story of Jack Skellington, the King of “HalloweenTown” who stumbles upon “Christmas Town” and schemes to take over the holiday. Danny Elfman wrote the songs and score, and provided the singing voice of Jack.

Another called home alone Home Alone is about a lot of things: family; independence;

resourcefulness; organization; the importance of not relying on technology to wake you up before a flight. But above all, it’s about preventing theft. Another called Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer It’s about The story chronicles the experiences of Rudolph, a youthful reindeer buck who possesses an unusual luminous red nose. Mocked and excluded by his peers because of this trait, Rudolph proves himself one Christmas Eve with poor visibility due to inclement weather.and decides to cancel Christmas. He is also deterred by the lack of Christmas spirit. So Mrs. Claus, and the elves Jingle and Jangle set out to get Santa his mojo back. The elves and Vixen, on their ride, land in Southtown, USA. Accidentally, after another one of Heat Miser and Cold Miser’s fights steers them off course.

Even though Vixen gets taken by the dog catcher, they get a ticket, the mayor and court don’t believe them, they meet some school children. One of which Santa also runs into, while trying to rescue the elves and Vixen. and he and his friends are un-phased by Christmas being canceled. When he runs into Santa, and sees him fly off on Dasher, he has a change of heart. Another one is about How the Grinch Stole Christmas The Grinch devises a plot to ruin Christmas by dressing up as Santa in retaliation for being ridiculed and for the citizens’ endless greed for gifts. Rejected by the Whos as a child, and living in spiteful seclusion for most of his life, the Grinch has always hated the citizens of Whoville. Another movie is called “elf.” Raised as an oversized elf, Buddy travels from the North Pole to New York City to meet his biological father, Walter Hobbs, who doesn’t know he exists and is in desperate need of some Christmas spirit. Buddy was a baby in an orphanage who stowed away in Santa’s sack and ended up at the North Pole.

Another called a  Christmas Story In the 1940s, a young boy named Ralphie Parker attempts to convince his parents, teacher, and Santa Claus that a Red Ryder Range 200 Shot BB gun really is the perfect Christmas gift. Christmas is approaching and 9-year-old Ralphie Parker wants only one thing: a Red Ryder Range 200 Shot BB gun.
