Dear Lance,
Can you sleep at school?
Sincerely,
Tired
Dear Tired,
While sleeping in class may be frowned upon, there is actually a place to nap on campus! The quiet room at the library is perfect for students needing a calm space to read, work on homework, or even doze off. You probably shouldn’t go during class, but at lunch, or after school (the library closes at 4:15) feel free to relax there. Try to come to school well rested, but know that the quiet room is there if you really need it.
Sincerely,
Lance
Dear Lance,
How can I try new things when I’m scared of them?
Sincerely,
Introverted Person
Dear Introverted Person,
Trying new things can be scary. The best way to reduce fear is to go in with an open mindset, and tell yourself beforehand that whatever you are doing is going to be awesome. Whether you are trying a new food, visiting a new place, or even skydiving, keeping an open mind about the experience will make it more positive overall. If you really do not like it, at least you tried it once, and you know that you do not like it for next time. Stepping out of your comfort zone is crucial for growth. Never putting yourself in new situations will not hurt you, but it will not help either. Take that next step, go try that new thing, you got this!
Sincerely,
Lance
Dear Lance,
How do I get my students to keep wearing masks, when the mask mandate has been lifted?
Sincerely,
Worried Teacher
Dear Worried Teacher,
Even though case numbers are going down, it is still as important as ever to wear masks on campus. As you have throughout the pandemic, keep reminding students to wear their masks, and cover their noses. Although having to constantly remind the same students is annoying, safety is the most important thing. Now that mandates have changed, students might be worse at remembering masks, however, they are still required in schools, so essentially nothing has changed for us.
Sincerely,
Lance
