The start of the NBA season is finally underway! In the Eastern conference the Boston Celtics are off to a hot start going 11-3 led by Jason Tatum. Behind them are the Milwaukee Bucks with a 10-3 record. In the Western Conference the Portland Trail Blazers and Denver Nuggets are doing well with a 9-4 record. Some strong teams that are not having the best starts are the Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets, and the Phoenix Suns. Last Season the Warriors came out on top winning the NBA Finals. Some teams that didn’t come out on top that had great runs were the Celtics, Heat, and Mavericks.
Some players that are showing out during the start of this season are, Luka Doncic, Giannis Atetokounmpo, Ja Morant, Kevin Durant, and Donavan Mitchell. Luka Doncic is leading the Mavericks by being a top scorer and an amazing facilitator. Giannis is the best player on the bucks and is known for his freak athleticism and playmaking. Ja is a point guard that has crazy athleticism, I think he’s the best dunker in the game currently. Kevin Durant is a key role player for the Nets and has been putting up some very impressive numbers. Donavan Mitchell just got traded to the Cavs and is fitting it just fine and scoring a lot. Some young players that have a lot of potential are Lamelo Ball, Tyler Hero, Jordan Poole, Anthony Edwards, and Trae Young. I am excited to watch all these players and see how they play and improve over the season.
Before the 2022-23 season started some trades occurred. The Jazz made a big trade with the Cavaliers. The Jazz got young Collin Sexton and other assets. The Cavaliers acquired Donovan Mitchell who was one of the best young players on the Jazz. The Jazz also sent their star big man to the timberwolves and received some young players, and lots of future picks. It seems like the Jazzs are rebuilding their team. Though they are off to a good start this season.
The most popular teams at San Marcos are the Lakers, and Warriors. Lots of people are disappointed with the Lakers start to the season.
“I’m disappointed with how the Lakers are playing, I think the coaching staff is lacking and the team chemistry.” Said Shane Kadlec, a Junior Basketball player at San Marcos.
“I’m a Warriors fan. My husband and I never miss a Warriors game, I’m very disappointed that they lost four in a row, and I believe they need to work on closing out a game.” Said Mrs.Willbanks, a teacher at San Marcos.
All the Basketball fans are looking forward to this upcoming season. I think it will be very entertaining and I’m hoping the Lakers will figure it out.
