ASB Plots & Plans Pt. 3

Although San Marcos students are 52 days away from the school year ending, ASB has been plotting and planning various events for students to look forward to. Now that the March season is officially up and running, so many events will be taking place.

On March 13, freshman, sophomores, and juniors will vote for the 2024-2025 ASB cabinet during Royal Time. This election will determine what San Marcos leaders will plan events, approve budgets, and expand the school’s culture this coming school year. While seniors are not participating in this election, they will be attending a mandatory senior class assembly where they will  learn about the senior contract process and graduation procedures.

“ASB is starting to plan the key details for this year’s prom. In the meantime, I encourage students to show up to events to help lower the costs of future events,” said Senior Class President Oscar Aguilar.

March 20 marks the day where all students will attend class assemblies where they will be electing class officers who will carry out the roles of innovating Royal spirit and bringing the San Marcos community together. This will be taking place during the 2nd period.

Royals Got Talent, the biggest fundraiser of the year, will be taking place March 21 at 7:00pm in the MPAC. The goal is to invite and bring the community together to watch and enjoy the special skills San Marcos students have, all while supporting the school. Interested students who are seeking to perform during the event will be able to sign up from March 5-8.

Once March is over, San Marcos springs forward to April events, which will include a Spring Fling Spirit Week at San Marcos during lunch from April 1- 5. This new event will allow students to enjoy daily lunch activities, attend school rallies, dress up for spirit dress-up days, and participate in another dance.

“We encourage you to stay on campus during lunch that week as we will have cake walks, ice cream days, student vs teacher jeopardy, and more,” said San Marcos Activities Director Paul Hiracheta.

On April 5, the entire school will be participating in a school wide rally. The Spring Fling dance will not be formal in comparison to the Winter Formal, but it will take place at the San Marcos gym on April 5 from 7:00pm-10:00pm. Rumor has it that students will experience a tropical getaway throughout the themed dance.

As can be seen, so many events have been scheduled for the San Marcos Royals to celebrate and attend. Below are the events dates, locations, and times in chronological order. Keep a look out for the future events in ASB Plots & Plans Part 4!
