This past Monday, the band Wallows played at the Santa Barbara Bowl as a part of their 2024 Model tour. The concert was a hit and very popular amongst Santa Barbara residents. It was a perfect way to start off the week for the San Marcos students who attended.
“I loved how the Wallows interacted with the crowd by walking in front of the pit and walking up into the bleachers, and of course all of their songs were amazing!” said San Marcos junior Valentina Thomas, “ Their opener Benee was very good as well.”
The Wallows are an alternative indie rock band from Los Angeles, California. The members of the band are Dylan Minette, Braeden Lemasters, and Cole Preston. The band formed in 2011, and their original name was Feaver, and then The Narwhals, before being permanently changed to Wallows. They rose to fame in 2017 after releasing their song “Pleaser”, which was number two on the Global Spotify Viral 50 chart. Since then, they have put out an EP: Spring (2017), and three albums: Nothing Happens (2019), Tell Me That It’s Over (2022), and Model (2024). The Wallows’ music has been known for an alternative rock sound and a surf punk like aesthetic. Their Model tour is the third one that they have been on, and they have many more stops after the Bowl including international destinations.
“My favorite part of the concert was everyone’s energy and just the general atmosphere of the show. It was so fun,”said San Marcos senior Emma Dichard.
The concert was overall a memorable experience for so many people and an opportunity to spend time with friends and enjoy great music. There are a lot more amazing concerts in store for the rest of the season at the Santa Barbara Bowl, so look on the website and see if one of your favorite artists is coming to town, because any concert at the Bowl will not disappoint!
