For the students who spend hours of practice and time perfecting the notes and steps, it’s not just about the show. It’s about teamwork, dedication, and pride. But will all their hard work pay off? Our marching band certainly did!
The SM marching band has had a great season! They made it all the way to finals, placing tenth overall out of twenty-eight bands in their division! They even got third overall music score in their division!
The San Marcos Royals marching band and color guard participated in a total of five competitions over the span of their season.
Three of the competitions were part of the regular, one of which they placed first in. Semifinals were at Walnut High school, and finals were at West Covina High School.
Anna Butler, a senior at San Marcos and flute section leader, says, “I think it’s been a great season, the whole band really put in a lot of effort and it shows. Based on my four years of marching band, this also feels like an especially collaborative ensemble, which is another big part of why we were able to make champs.”
The marching band and color guard ended the amazing season with a celebratory trip to Disneyland. They performed at the all band showcase at DP, which featured all three bands from our area. They also played for the holiday tree lighting celebration in Santa Barbara.
