From the stunning bands to synchronized dancers to the solo acts, San Marcos students made a beautiful impression of just what talents they have yet again. At Royals Got Talent, held on February 27 in the MPAC, students and teachers got to spend the night watching royal performers give it their all, showing our school their phenomenal abilities.
There were twelve performances in total. First thing that students witnessed as they were on their way to the theater was two red carpets planted outside the doors, and once they went through they were met with decorations and a food stand, as well as the contestants’ photos displayed on the wall. Hopefully they had the chance to buy popcorn!
The judges this year were Mr. Hiracheta, the ASB teacher; Mr. Koroshec, the English dual enrollment teacher; Ms. Medina the AVID teacher; and Ms. Tilton, the APES teacher. When determining the favored performers, after every act the judges would make a statement.
As the audience watched the Royal students presentation, there was never once a point of disappointment, the crowd could only feel astonishment. San Marcos didn’t just get to see these skilled students, in fact, between each performance, there were games to keep the night full, by having random volunteers from the crowd go onstage and compete in fun ways, like showing their best “Royal Rizz Line” or guessing the lyrics of selected songs.
Out of the twelve performers, three moved on to the finals: The Santa Anas, Eva Lungaard, and dancers Lane Danhauer, Josie Morris, Kennedy Fick, and others. Though all did beautifully with their final show of the night, it was up to the judges to pick the winner.
The winner of the night was the dancing group.
“I was so moved by the dance piece by Lane, Joise, and Kennedy as well as Antonio’s performance of Clair De Lune. Aaron White and the Santa Ana’s is always a fan favorite because of the energy he brings to the stage,” said judge Mr. Hiracheta.
San Marcos High School is filled with so many different types of people, but from the talents they share, families and friendships are born and they last for years. Even Ms. Daniels’, our beloved math teacher that left San Marcos to continue with her schooling, came to see the show and to see her students thrive.
Great job Royals!
