As Spring comes to an end, the San Marcos Royals have a lot to look back on – from the dances, to the rallies, the fair, and the creative spirit week features, there is a lot to unpack from the 2025 Spring season.
Where to begin? There is so much to say about what goes on around school, thanks to the San Marcos ASB crew, that plan and form all the interactive events year round. All the spirit week themes, which, not to brag, were much better than the other High School’s, were a total hit; all such credit to ASB. This year one of the favorite theme’s from each Spirit week was “Adam Sandler” dress up.
To continue on that note, there were the ASB elections. To keep it short, all you should know is that next year ASB leaders will not disappoint. Just like how contestants in Royals Got Talent were not a disappointment. In fact, viewers from the show have said nothing but good things.
This year’s Spring rally was a total success – three performers in the entree show, fun games such as dress to impress, and the class themes were fun and engaging. Freshman were The lorax, sophomores were Avatar, juniors for Mamma Mia, and seniors were Teen Beach movies.
The San Marcos Madrigals and Enchante had a performing event “Festival of Gold” in which they got to go to Nashville during spring break.
“It was so fun, while we were there we gained so much musical experience. We also got to visit a bunch of interactive museums and just have fun with each other.” said Jadyn Gifford, junior at San Marcos who attended the Festival of Gold.
Other fun aspects of spring were the theater one acts which are a set of ten minute skits, the Kings Page 2025 release of the iconic Jesters Page, a nice spring break week to ward off from studying, and March Book Madness; where students evaluated which of the more popular books in the library would be deemed most chosen by Royal voters.
Outside of school, the Santa Barbara fair came back to Earl Warren showgrounds; as usual, this was a hit.
Now, although there’s a lot that goes on here on campus, what have the Royal teachers been up to when their shift ends? Do they just hibernate beneath the desks, sniffing their XPO markers in nostalgic memory of the school day? Maybe, but while those allegations have yet to be proven wrong, some teachers have been filling the past few months with adventures and activities. Like how Mr. Tragarz decided to abandon America because he thought hiking away to New Zealand would be much more fulfilling than teaching students history. Spoiler alert: nothing can satisfy a history teacher more than teaching a class.
It’s not over yet! There is more to come as San Marcos students enter the month of May – not all is fun and games, though students wish it was. Throughout this spring, royals have worked hard to get good grades for midterms, as well as studying to prepare for upcoming AP tests. Good luck, Royals! Your test day is sure to come soon, study hard while you can.
And, of course, it wouldn’t be San Marcos High School without a play – this year, the theater production will be performing “Urinetown”, a hilarious satirical play that’s sure to blow the crowd away. Tickets will be open to buy online beforehand or at the entrance the days of.
There is more to come in Spring! Senior Prom, Spring Concert, finals, James Taylor at the SB bowl, i madonnari and 1st Thursday Art walk.
