Holiday Music?

Holiday+Music%3F

The holidays are coming up so that means holiday music is starting to be played. I love the holidays and I know a lot of others do too. People really like all the time they get to spend with their families. I think holiday music should start to be played right after Halloween. It should start that soon because the holidays are coming, and we might as well start earlier than later. Plus, who doesn’t love jamming out to “All I want for Christmas?” I know everyone has different opinions on this topic, so I asked some SM students what they think about holiday music, when we should start playing it, and what song is their favorite.

Sophia Geronimo, a junior at San Marcos said, “The most appropriate time to start listening to holiday music is right after Halloween. You know it’s getting close to Christmas when the thick tiger blankets come out and that’s when holiday music should be playing.” Her favorite song is “Rockin ‘Around the Christmas Tree.” This shows that after Halloween the holiday songs should start playing.

Carlos Gomez, a junior at San Marcos said, “The right time to listen to holiday music is either in the month of November and/or in December when the holidays actually take place.” His favorite song is “Jingle Bells.” His opinion was mostly based on the fact that holiday music should come around December. This also shows that there are people who would listen to it during Christmas instead of right after Halloween.

Natalia Ledesma, a Senior at San Marcos said, “ Love holiday music, especially old kinds of music. I think right now is definitely the time to listen to holiday music. Stores are decorating for it and it’s the perfect time because of the weather.” Her favorite song is “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.” A bunch of stores have started selling Christmas decorations already, and it always feels like the holidays even more when stores you go to sell Christmas decorations.

Everyone agrees that you can play holiday music whenever you feel like it. The amount of people that have already downloaded and started playing holiday songs this year just shows that there are a lot of people who like listening to holiday music early. Holiday music typically starts playing around November, but it’s perfectly fine if you listen to it before or after. Holiday music should bring you joy in general, so do whatever makes you happy!
