The Start of the NBA Season

The+Start+of+the+NBA+Season

The 75th NBA season has taken off, and some fans are left in confusion through the first week of the season, others not so much. Last season’s free agency stunned many a lot of fans and left them with no clue on who would be the clear frontrunner for this year’s 2021-2022 NBA finals matchup. Some notable moves that came to this offseason is Russell Westbrook taking his talents to Hollywood to join Lebron James and Anthony Davis. The Knicks acquired point guard Kamba Walker and shooting guard Evan Fournier to space out the floor for reigning, most improved player of the year, Julius Randle.

The Chicago Bulls are on the horizon for a top team in the east

and have many fans raising eyebrows for whether they are legit finals contenders. This is the first time the Bulls have started a season 4-0 since Michael Jordan took them to the finals and won, in the 1996-97 season. This fast success mainly came from their excellent defense. As the Bulls acquired, 6’6 point guard Lonzo Ball and former Lakers point guard Alex Caruso, two very good hustle players, and that signing is payingoff. The Bulls are just behind the Raptors in deflections per game and ninth in total loose ball recovers. But that’s not to discredit their amazing play on the offensive end. With two exceptional All-NBA All-Stars in the back court, Demar Derozen and Zach Lavine it is bound to win games. Zach Lavine is averaging 25 points a game while Derozan is averaging 22 points a game. This Bulls team is filled with so much young excitement. This team is definitely a team to keep an eye out for this season.

“[The Chicago Bulls] are off to a strong start with their new big 3. Zach lavine is finally showing out, and getting recognized for playing at an All-NBA level.”

Said freshman San Marcos basketball player, Nathan Jones.

“I had high expectations for them to end the season in the top 3.”

For Philly fans, it seems that Joel Embiid is carrying the weight as Ben Simmons refuses to play another game in a 76ers uniform. It is thought that Embiid has been playing through injury to pick up Ben Simmon’s absences. Embiid tore his meniscus in game five last season when the 76ers were leading the series, 3-1 to the Washington Wizards. Although Joel Embiid is playing amazing he hasn’t been the only person to step up., Seth Curry has stepped up to the plate and helped the 76ers to a 5-2 record. Earlier this season, he’s been putting up 15.3 points a game and dropped 28 points in a big win against the Thunder, earlier in the season. I. It is still unknown to whether Ben Simmions will ever play another quarter as a 76er, but Head Coach, Doc Rivers is still optimistic saying

“I want Ben to be playing.” Rivers said this after a shoot-around at practice.

As an NBA fan myself, it is going to be interesting to watch the next couple weeks of the NBA season to see what types of teams will be playoff contenders to other teams that are seeking the first overall pick in next year’s draft. This season will be a fun one as to who might be crowned the 2021-2022 NBA champions.
