Once a year, football lovers from all over the country gather together to watch two teams battle it out. This game is called the Superbowl. The annual Superbowl will be hosted on February 13, at Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles California. This year’s matchup will be the Cincinnati Bengals vs the Los Angeles Rams.
The Cincinnati Bengals became a powerhouse football team seemingly out of nowhere. Most analysts predicted the Bengals to finish last in their division. Fansided predicted the Bengals to finish with a 6 – 11 record. The Bengals finished at the top of their division with a 10 – 7 record, and are now in the Superbowl. The Cincinnati Bengals are led by quarterback, Joe Burrow, and rookie wide receiver, Ja’marr chase. The duo played together at LSU, and even won the college football national championship in 2019. Their success transitioned over to the NFL, as Joe Burrow became the first Quarterback drafted number 1 overall to go to the Superbowl in his first two seasons.
The Los Angeles Rams have been a dominant force in the NFL in recent memory. In the 2018-2019 season, the Rams made it to the super bowl, but fell short to Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. But this team is completely different. Since then, the Rams acquired star players including Matthew Stafford, Von Miller, Odell Beckham Jr, Jalen Ramsey, and Sony Michel. They were also able to retain stars such as Aaron Donald and Robert Woods. This season, a player who came seemingly out of the blue is Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp. Cooper Kupp had a historic year, with 1947 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns in the regular season. The Rams exceeded expectations this year, with a 12 – 5 record, and top of their division. This team should be a formidable threat in this year’s Super Bowl.
According to most analysts, the Rams are favored to win this game. Tipico Sportsbook has the Bengals as 4.5-point underdogs. But, the Bengals have been defying odds all year, beating the top two seeds in the AFC – the Titans and the Chiefs. Andre McCullough, star running back for the San Marcos Football team, gave his prediction for this year’s Super Bowl matchup.
“Most of my family are Rams fans, but I think it will be cool to see the Bengals win. I love Joe Burrow and Ja’marr Chase. So I’m predicting a solid 24 to 21 Bengals win.” A very possible outcome for this year’s game.
