One of the biggest debates amongst California baseball fans is the Dodgers vs. Giants. In Santa Barbara, most people tend to lean in the direction of the Dodgers but there are also a good amount of Giants fans. Personally, I think that since we are closer to Los Angeles people should be Dodger fans. I also think that when people are not Dodgers or Giants fans, they tend to lean towards the giants for many reasons. Some of those reasons might include the annoying fanbase, the historical dominance of the Dodgers, or even the fact that they don’t live close to Los Angeles.
“We’re going to be a scary team this year.” said Senior Alejandro Gil, “I think that if we see the Giants in the playoffs we should be able to take care of business.”
A lot of dodger fans seem to agree. If the Dodgers have a healthy team they look like they are going to dominate a lot of teams into the playoffs.
I think that people should be Dodger fans because of the history of the team. So many well known players have been through the Dodgers such as Jackie Robinson, Sandy Koufax, Clayton Kershaw, Mike Piazza, etc. These players brought a lot to the game for a lot of different reasons. Jackie Robinson acted as a trailblazer for African Americans in Major League baseball and was able to make it normal for people of color to play in the MLB. Clayton Kershaw showed that pitchers can be dominant while dealing off speed pitches and fastballs.
There are lots of reasons why people should like the Dodgers and watch the entertaining team that we have this year. The star studded lineup that is being put out for a healthy Dodgers team this year is truly special and amazing to watch. The big bats of Mookie Betts, Trea Turner, Chris Taylor, Corey Seager, Justin Turner, and many more are an impressive group and will make a deep run into the playoffs.
