Once a year on a Saturday night at the end of April, the Royal Pride Foundation hosts their annual benefit. Approximately 250 San Marcos parents, teachers and supporters make their way over to the charming Santa Barbara Club. While these parents spend the special evening bidding, dining, and dancing, they are also helping out our school in a critical way. The RPF Benefit is the biggest fundraiser of the year. As the adults enjoy themselves in the lovely setting, the RPF is raising funds for important school programs.
Every year, the money raised is distributed across different areas and needs within our school. Somewhat recently, the RPF used the money raised to build the green safety fence along Hollister, paint our “The Future is Ours” mural, and upgrade the A Lot’s roundabout with trees and plants. In addition, RPF typically gives funds to help students with transportation, new technology, department lunches, and for the past 3 years have funded the printing of our very own San Marcos Kings Page.
Stacy and Ryan Fell (‘90) are this year’s recipients of the Forever Royal Award. The Forever Royal Award is given to an individual or couple that is consistently showing dedication, support and Royal pride. In addition, Frann Wagoneck (‘84) is this year’s recipient for the Royal Pride Inspiration Award. The Royal Pride Inspiration award is awarded to an individual, couple, or organization who consistently demonstrates passion for helping SMHS students, staff, and community through volunteering, giving, and leading.
“The Royal Pride Foundation has always been supportive of the San Marcos Instrumental Music program. In the past several years they have helped fund new marching band uniforms and competitions for the marching band and indoor ensembles. Overall they have funded many instruments and scholarships for students, and have been key to the success of the band,” said Mr. Kiyoi the head of the Instrumental Music program.
On Saturday April 25, The event is to start at 5 PM, when a cocktail hour and silent auction will be held, along with raffle ticket sales. At 6:45, the dinner and program, hosted by Master of Ceremonies, Andrew Firestone, will begin. After the award presentation, remarks from Principal Holdren will be followed by a live auction, paddle raise, and raffle winner drawings. Attendees will then move to the dance floor. Everyone should truly expect a special evening in this lovely downtown club.
Overall, the co-chairs of this year’s benefit, Alexis Tande and Dalina Klan, along with the rest of the incredible RPF board, have been working very hard to bring this event to life and make it a huge success. We look forward to seeing the benefits and improvements to our school, from the money that was raised.
