Did you know that our theater department does a senior musical? The senior musical this year is…….. Grease! The senior musical is a smaller-scale production of only seniors to celebrate their high school theater careers and give them one final chance to shine on stage.
Currently, the cast is hard at work learning lines, refining character choices, and polishing choreography. The seniors are still working on the play and practicing dances from the songs “Summer Nights” and “You’re the One That I Want.” The seniors are super excited to be in the musical and to bring this beloved show to life for the school community.
“My favorite scene from Grease is ‘We Go Together,’” says Senior Grace Gerenser, who is playing Poppy in the musical. “The whole cast is in it, and it’s very fun to dance to!”
Grease is set in the iconic era of the 1950s, and the show follows the lives of high school students navigating friendships, love, and identity, all wrapped in unforgettable music and vibrant choreography. From leather jackets and poodle skirts to classic rock-and-roll energy, the world of Grease is colorful, nostalgic, and full of life.
The cast will bring confidence and personality to every scene, capturing the playful spirit of the show while also highlighting the growth of the senior class. They’ve been working not only on the big musical numbers, but also on the quieter, more emotional moments that show the characters’ growth and struggles.
The pit orchestra and tech crew are also working seamlessly behind the scenes, creating smooth transitions, bold lighting, and a polished sound that elevates the entire production. From microphone checks and light cues to set changes and costume quick-changes, these students are making sure that everything runs smoothly so the performers can do their best work.
Senior Katerina Vachovska, who plays Marty, says, “Grease has been such an interesting experience. But I especially loved how every senior was able to take a part in the production of this musical!”
More than just a musical, Grease serves as a celebration of the seniors and their time on stage. For many performers, this show marks a final bow after years of dedication to theater. The commitment and teamwork that they are going to display reflect not only talent but also the strong sense of community built through the theater program! As the dates come closer, the play will leave a lasting impression on the class of 2026 that truly is going to be out in style. The musical will be performed on February 19th and 20th at 7:00 pm, and on the 21st at 2:00 pm as well as 7:00 pm! Come see the senior musical cause it is going to be “Greased Lightnin’”!
