With the start of the NFL season, there are lots of things to be excited about, and for many it is the start of a new fantasy football season! Fantasy football is always a very competitive game, as last year over 50 million people worldwide played fantasy football (most of which are in more than one league). The average amount that each fantasy football player spent on their league’s draft party was $131. Adding in a $50 buy-in, the average cost of participating in a league is already at over $180 (Expandedramblings.com). Fantasy football remains the number one fantasy sport. Fantasy football has become so much more widely popular over the years as people of all ages play on many platforms such as ESPN and Yahoo. With every new season comes new surprises: will Christian McCaffery deliver as the top fantasy player again? Will the rookies impress? Will fantasy locks stay healthy?
There are many different strategies that fantasy football players use to try to get an edge. Some fantasy players love to load up on running backs. This strategy is one that is most commonly used because if you have good running backs, you are set for the rest of the season. The running back strategy is a very common one but there are some weirder ones that can work if done well. A personal favorite of mine is drafting two tight ends in the first two rounds. You can put one in the tight end spot and the other as your flex. If they are the best two available then you will be getting a lot of points from both and will be winning many games.
This fantasy football season is going to be as wild and unpredictable as ever. You never know who will overperform or underperform during the season and you will be filled with more stress week by week trying to fill out your roster. As a Fantasy player myself, I could not be more excited to have this time of year back and win another fantasy football league.
