The Queen of Rap, Nicki Minaj, has finally released the album of the century, “Pink Friday 2.” After five years and four months, the Queen finally released her album on Friday, December 8 at 9 pm EST. She pulled a Drake when she first set a date in October for the release of the album, but pushed it back to Friday December 8, hence the title “Pink Friday 2.”. This album is the sequel to the first “Pink Friday” released in 2010.

The first song in her album, the intro, features Nicki Minaj singing to her dad about her relationship with her first born son, “Papa Bear.” “Pink Friday 2” is made up of 22 songs, including features with Drake, Lil Wayne, Future, J Cole, Lil Uzi Vert, Tate Kobang, Lourdiz, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Skillibeng, and Skeng.

Her fans were exhilarated to finally be able to hear the album that they have waited for so long.. Her followers have taken over Tik Tok, Instagram, and X in  large discussions about which songs are their favorite and have potential to become Tik Tok trends.

“This album is thrown out to the audience full of various emotions with the best featured artists out there! I see how she is the queen of rap, props to her. She did good and the majority of the songs are with all good energy intention,” said San Marcos senior, Berenice Flores.

“Gag City” has become her digital fictional town that she created with this album. The AI generated city features neon pink trains, clouds, trees, planes, buildings, and more. Fans have gone so crazy since the album dropped that they have started to make a list of celebrities who would be allowed into “Gag City.” Nicki Minaj has also used various marketing methods to promote the album, such as merch, videos, and tweets. 

Nicki Minaj has already confirmed that she is going on tour in 2024 to perform her new album. In late November, she released a link for her followers to sign up for the presale tickets. The site crashed and it took her followers up to two hours to finally get a text back from Nicki Minaj stating that that person is in the presale group.
