This year, popular Reality TV Show Dancing With The Stars celebrated its 34th season, and 20th year on air. If you haven’t heard of this show, it is essentially a group of pro dancers who get paired with a celebrity for the duration of the season. From there, they train their celebrity to compete in dances at weekly competitions. Almost every week a couple is eliminated (although, depending on the episode, two couples may leave; on other occasions, nobody is eliminated). The goal of the show is to make it to the finale and win the Mirrorball Trophy.
The 2025 season rallied a diverse group of celebrities. Notable participants include Robert Irwin, Alix Earle, Jordan Chiles, Dylan Efron, Elaine Hendrix, Hilaria Baldwin, Corey Feldman, Jen Affleck, Whitney Leavitt, Danielle Fishel, Lauren Jauregui, Scott Hoying, Baron Davis, and Andy Richter. These celebrities fought hard for the Mirrorball at weekly themed dance competitions with their respective partners.
The first 10/10 score of the season went to Whitney Leavitt and her partner Mark Ballas. They danced a clean quick step to “Popular” on Wicked Night. Whitney Leavitt is an extremely talented dancer, yet she faced a lot of backlash due to the fact that she majored in dance at BYU. Many viewers expressed on social media that they felt her prior experience was unfair, and gave her a leg up to the other celebrities. The wave of criticism caused a decrease in viewers willing to vote for the pair, eventually leading in their elimination.
The first perfect score of the season went to Robert Irwin and his partner Witney Carson. The pair won a 40/40 on their foxtrot to “Footprints in the Sand.” The pair would then go on to win the Mirrorball Trophy.
San Marcos Senior Sabrina Rashti stated, “I loved this dance because I felt it really showed all of the progress Robert has made. This season had such a great variation of theme nights.”
A highlight of the season came on Dedication Night when Elaine Hendrix and her partner Alan Bersten performed a foxtrot to “This Will Be (an Everlasting Love)”. The dance featured Lisa Ann Walter, who played Chessy in The Parent Trap. Hendrix, who played the notorious Meredith Blake in the 1998 production, danced alongside Walter to the catchy tune.
Overall, this Dancing With The Stars season wasn’t just bubbly and entertaining, but also portrayed a fun competition between a wide range of celebrities. If you haven’t already seen this season’s episodes, be sure to go check them out!
