Hocus Pocus 2 Review

Hocus Pocus 2 Review

It’s Halloween season and the Sanderson sisters are back in action in Disney’s new movie, Hocus Pocus 2. Can the second movie live up to the same hype as the first? Will it make or break the hearts of Hocus Pocus lovers everywhere?

In the beginning of the first Hocus Pocus movie, we were able to see how the Sanderson sisters made a way for themselves to come back to Salem while in the beginning of Hocus Pocus 2, we were told the story of how the Sanderson sisters came to be. It was a nice addition to the story to see where it all began. Hocus Pocus lovers are thrilled to see that most of the cast, except for the three kids, are played by the same actors from the original movie: Bette Midler (Winifred Sanderson), Kathy Najimy (Mary Sanderson), Sarah Jessica Parker (Sarah Sanderson) and Doug Jones (Billy Butcherson).

“Long-time fans of Hocus Pocus will have a lot of expectations for a sequel, most of which are likely met here. The special effects are better, obviously, but the vibe remains. Hocus Pocus 2 will undeniably get you in the Halloween spirit.” Guardian Observer, Emily Zemler.

Judging from the rating of 63% Rotten Tomatoes,” the second movie didn’t live up to all the expectations Hocus Pocus lovers held for it but it still gave off the magical vibes given off from the first. Lovers of the first movie will be okay with its sequel, but certainly not jumping on a broomstick of joy.

Lots of people enjoyed the movie, most people enjoying the musical numbers and the updated sense of humor. From the trickery of modern era objects to the sisterly sweet ending, Hocus Pocus 2 did have its moments. It had a string or two of information left hanging in the balance that probably could have been explained a bit more, but overall it was a movie worth watching.
