Amanda Gorman makes an appearance at the UCSB Arts & Lectures Series on April 30th

Amanda Gorman, a famous poet who spoke at the Biden Inauguration Day, is coming to Santa Barbara on April 30, at Arlington Theatre. Amanda Gorman empowers others, spreading beautiful and powerful messages in creative ways. She has a strong voice, and presents herself with confidence.

Gorman made history as the first-ever National Youth Poet Laureate of the United States and is celebrated for her commitment to advocating for the environment, racial equality, and gender justice. She became the youngest inaugural poet in U.S history with her performance of her poem, “The Hill We Climb,” at the 2021 Presidential Inauguration. With her message of hope, resilience and healing, Gorman is an inspirational voice for others, and she is making an impact on the world for the better.

Gorman was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, and she graduated from Harvard University in 2020. She has written several inspiring books, such as, The One for Whom Food Is Not Enough, The Hill We Climb, and Call Us What We Carry, all written in 2021.

“Poetry has never been the language of barriers. It’s always been the language of bridges,” Gorman said.
